Project Summary
This linkage project, authorized by Colorado SB19-228 (Substance Use Disorder Prevention Measures) and strengthened by additional legislation (SB20-028, SB21-137, and SB24-047), aims to generate population-level estimates of Colorado maternal-infant dyads affected by prenatal substance use, characterize the geographic and demographic variability associated with the dyads, and document key health outcomes experienced by these dyads. Information gained through the project will:
○ generate the first-ever population-level estimates of prenatal substance in Colorado;
○ improve understanding of who is most impacted by prenatal substance use;
○ help guide effective state investments to improve health outcomes for this population; and support state agencies and community partners in tracking progress on prevention, treatment, and recovery efforts.
